A collaboration between Trenett Ha, Zoe Binder, Tim Helander, Adrian Chin Quan and Xiaolin Huang, team name 'Good Studio'.
A project that started off as RWA coming to us looking for a video, transformed into a value explainer, activation campaign and brand refresh. Driven by a desire to design the right thing with the right message, we spent a large part of our eight weeks immersing ourselves, researching, having conversations with hosts, clients and RWA to empathise and connect with their stories.
Brand Refresh
When it came time to start designing our messaging, we aimed to challenge the rhetoric and discourse around the area, and focus on the hope, empathy and connections that were built by the people involved with RWA. We wanted to convey the joy, the wholesomeness, the mutual exchange and warmth shared that we felt when we had the awesome opportunity to connect with them over a picnic lunch.

Our brand refresh aimed to re articulate RWA's values and principles. This includes reframing their clients who are not 'helpless refugees and asylum seekers', but resilient 'full-time humans'; that they do not passively witness, but actively offer; that their organisation is not just a service, but an experience; it is not just a mere acceptance, but a wholehearted welcoming and most of all, that their organisation not me, but 'we'.
Activation Campaign
Reaching out to people's generosity and empathy, our activation campaign is a simple type and copy based campaign that highlights the amazing opportunities, connections and stories they are able to gain from the experience. #roomtoshareroomtospare.
Part of the brand refresh involved creating styles and guidelines for various collateral that RWA often uses, to bring out a cohesive and consistent visual language. Relying heavily on bold typography, black and white photography and a single bright and vibrant feature colour, we designed their brand in such a way that is easy to replicate and functional keeping in mind they are a volunteer group with minimal resources and no on-site designer.
